QUT's production of Tight in the Bud was a devised piece created for the 2022 Acting graduates to perform in The Loft for Situated Creative Practice.
Written by Hannah Belanszky and Lewis Treston, the show follows fragments of stories, peering into snippets people's lives - blossomed from the central theme of 'travel'.

The Deputy Stage Manager
I was lucky enough to be the Deputy Stage Manager (DSM) for this production! Getting to schedule, be in the rehearsal rooms and call the show was a joy with the wonderful cast and technical team.
Having worked with many of the cast previously as an ASM, I was excited to be able to work with them more in the rehearsal room. The most rewarding aspect of the entire process was, by far, being able to witness character discoveries and watching the process from the very beginning bloom into the final product.
There is beauty in the work environment that can be created when the space is managed in a kind and welcoming manor. What I have learnt, from this production, is how to be more assertive whilst still enveloping a team in healthy and uplifting energy.
The respect I have for the creatives and crew, as well as the cast is beyond words. It was truly an honour to work with new voices and up-and-coming talents.
